Things you can make from and old set of skis. Number 1 - Medieval Weaponry

Still struggling to find things to do in the off-season? Why not try building a collapsible bow from an old set of skis...

The very comprehensive instructions are now available on the Indestructables website.

The skis used in this Instructable are cross-country skis. The bows turned out to be between 20-26# @ 28” draw.   Bows made from downhill skis will be much stronger due to the increased rigidity; I've heard reports of folks achieving >60# with downhill ski limbs.
I wonder what sort of power a snowboard bow would have?

What you'll need:

  • Handsaw
  • Clamps
  • Hand drill with assorted bits
  • Chisel and hammer
  • Wood rasp or file
  • Assorted sandpapers
  • Wood finish
  • Glue or spray adhesive
  • Ponytail and goatee
  • An archery douche

And just like that, you're all set-up for a school rampage.
