Art Inspiration - An impressive array of classic cars and lecherous geezers in ski resorts.

As part of my ongoing quest to find the perfect car for snowboarding, I've found a few more ideas...

From 1959 to 1971, Art Fitzpatrick and Van Kaufman landed an exclusive contract to produce almost all of the advertising art for Pontiac. Art Fitzpatrick (being named Art pretty much insures you'll end up in this job) drew the cars and Van Kaufman drew the scenery and people. Fitzpatrick traced photos of the new car, cut the tracings into pieces, then stretched the car into bolder proportions to produce his unique style. Van Kaufman's speciality seems to be making damn sure that absolutely every picture included at least one bloke trying to get his end away. They produced oodles of great picture over the years, so here's a look at the skiing themed ones...

 1960 Pontiac Bonneville Sports Coupe

1964 Pontiac Bonneville Custom Safari - New England

1964 Pontiac Grand Prix - Chamonix

1967 Pontiac Catalina Hardtop Coupe - Vermont

1969 Pontiac GTO Hardtop Coupe - Cortina D'Ampezzo

1971 Pontiac Firebird - The Jacobshorn

 1971 Pontiac Firebird 400

Here's a few surfing ones...

1969 Pontiac Firebird 400 Convertible

1971 Pontiac LeMans - Acapulco Bay

And this one because it's boss...

And finally a couple of non-Pontiacs...
1953 Studebaker

1973 Opel Commodore - St Anton

Those lads in the 60s and 70s were serious players.

There's a whole load more of their Pontiac work on this site if you've got a lot more time to waste.

It's also worth having a look at the slightly more convoluted flash-based website of Art Fitzpatrick for his other work.
